Dominique Rey

Composer

Born in 1953 in Geneva. Composer and music teacher specialized in improvisation, harmony and musical notation (university and high-school level students in the HEM and EM of the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze in Geneva).

Dominique Rey has composed :

  • over 150 songs based on writer’s texts (40 of which have been played in French Speaking Switzerland and on tour in Paris, during a cabaret for young audiences)
  • 50 pieces for piano 4 hands and 8 hands (2 pianos and 4 pianists)
  • a musical tale
  • several collections of pieces for young pianists

In her foreword to Voyage intergalactique, Marie-Laure Bachmann wrote the following:
«From songwriting to operettas for children, from virtuoso piano pieces for 4 hands and 8 hands to albums for young pianists, her musical production pleases children and adults alike, thanks to its dynamism and easy off play, full of harmonic and rhythmic surprises, between popular and concert music.»
