Jean-Marie Lemarchand

Guitarist and composer

Romance of modern times - Notes by the author
Starting as an accompanied tune with a strong tonal sound, Romance of modern times can be defined as a tribute to the 19th century Romantics because of its impetuous and painful character. It then evolves toward a more modal atmosphere, until it finally calms down with much sensitivity.

Biography
After obtaining the Diplôme Supérieur de Composition (Higher Degree in Composition) – First called – from the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris, Jean-Marie Lemarchand quickly went in for orchestra composition, by authoring original soundtracks of films.

He is a graduate in guitar and chamber music from the Conservatoire de Rennes. He therefore has substantially composed for this instrument, and was recently asked by the quartet AMANECER and the soloists Mauricio Diaz Alvarez and Rémi Jousselme to write for them.
